Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) has declared the selection of Yousuf Al Mutawa as CEO of the Sharjah Sustainable City plan.
The development was initiated in March by His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan Bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.
Al Mutawa is also Shurooq’s Director of Operations.
Marwan Bin Jassim Al Sarkal, who is the Executive Chairman of Shurooq, stated that the appointment of Al Mutawa mull’s over authority’s visualization to devote in young leaders and hold them up to play a key role in driving the progress of Sharjah and the UAE.
Moreover, he also claimed that Al Mutawa’s knowledge would be a priceless asset to the authority for the expansion of Sharjah Sustainability City. According to the expansion strategy for the scheme, there is a need for nurturing employee skills, creating more jobs and offering the younger generation opportunities to flourish in leadership roles.
Sharjah Sustainable City project is being developed on a 668,901 square meter plot. It is expected to encompass 1,120 villas, and offer up to 100 percent savings on electricity and water bills. The community will also construct eight greenhouses with vertical farms.
It is also envisioned that this city will have a fully autonomous shuttle service to create a city that supports sustainable community life in Sharjah. It will be the emirate’s first Net Zero Energy community on the brink of becoming a landmark in the worldwide environmental movement.
