Dubai-headquartered Oman Insurance Co stated that on Tuesday Qatar’s central bank has discarded its request to open a branch in the Gulf Arab state, among a deep argument involving Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
Oman Insurance is forbidden from selling or issuing insurance in Qatar since the verdict, it said in a bourse statement.
The UAE, Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Bahrain slashed ties with Qatar in June 2017, condemning Doha of supporting terrorism. Qatar has denied the allegations.
The Qatar Central Bank could not be instantly reached for comment.
